Therapeutic Riding

Horseback riding can be beneficial in many ways.

  • Guiding a thousand-pound animal requires focus and an ability to follow sequential steps
  • Staying balanced astride a moving, shifting animal develops balance, strength and coordination of the body and the senses
  • Being successful working together with the horse is exciting and confidence-boosting

I specialize in working with the following issues:

  • Fear and anxiety
  • Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder
  • Sensory Integration / Processing Disorder
  • Disability and loss—mild traumatic brain injuries, long-term health problems
  • Depression

My goal is to be sensitive to riders’ physical and psychological needs. If you are taking up riding for the first time, have had a traumatic fall, or have special physical or cognitive needs, you may be interested in having me help you get started on the right foot.

Lessons are geared to help you:

  • Connect with your horse from the ground up
  • Increase your awareness and mental focus
  • Observe how horses respond instinctually
  • Learn how to respond in different situations to keep you and the horse safe
  • Develop a deep-seated groundedness
  • Practice guiding the horse with inner calm, presence and focus
  • Move towards greater harmony and lightness when working with your horse to accomplish your goals
